Here in Africa, I’m sure its no surprise to anyone that they have a lot of different fruit that we do not have. But somebody really got turned around when they were naming these fruit. They have a fruit called an apple which is not an apple, in this case it does somewhat resemble an apple at least, they have a pumpkin that is nothing like our pumpkins at all. They have a plum that is not a plum. What we call an avocado they call a pear, whatever name you use I still don’t like them too much. But a pineapple is still a pineapple. Except they taste a lot better down here. We have a few plants around the house here and Dave and I just finished eating one freshly picked. The three days of travel were wort it just for that.
The other day Pastor Bossey took me around to visit two of the three women’s groups that meat here in the village. There are pictures of these under Efa Village. He told me they have three diferent groups, groups A, B, and C. I tried to find out what was the difference between the groups, and I think he was saying that the difference is age, but I’m not really sure. On the way back from visiting them we passed the local grocery store. Pastor Patrick Udo, one of the teachers at the Bible Institute was there, and took me inside for a beer. He talked about his years at Immanuel, the people he knew, including my father, and other things. Later he showed me a picture of Himself, Mark, and my Father in their graduation gowns. I didn’t ask but I think it was college graduation, because if I remember correctly they were wearing caps. Earlier in the day I also met a young girl named Naomi, the daughter of Pastor Godwyn, who walked with my down to the crossing so I could buy her sweets, and on the way told me all about school and her favorite color green. She also wanted to know if I could carry her to my home in America, although I don’t think she meant I should literally carry her.
Your brother in Christ,
Matt
